VIS Live! Event 2025: a successful and inspiring wrap-up

On 13 November 2025, the very last VIS Live! Event took place at the University of Groningen. We can look back on a very successful closing event! With more than 60 participants, we celebrated the successes of all VIS projects carried out in recent years. In addition, the focus was on the sustainable integration of VIS in the institutions. Various experiences, challenges, tips and learned lessons were exchanged. Participants gained insights into how they can implement VIS sustainably within their institutions.

The day started with 11 inspiring poster presentations, covering a variety of interesting topics. While enjoying a delicious lunch, participants were able to exchange experiences and ideas about the various VIS projects.

This was followed by a plenary programme, with various inspiring presentations and videos. Students, lecturers, researchers and other stakeholders, both online and physically present, shared their experiences from a variety of perspectives. Topics ranged from dealing with sensitive issues in international student groups to the sustainable integration of VIS into existing curricula.

The programme beautifully demonstrated the diversity of the VIS approach and the impact these projects have had on international cooperation, educational innovation and student skills. The open discussions and practical examples gave participants concrete tools to further develop and embed VIS activities within their own institutions.

The event ended with drinks and live music, an informal get-together where participants could chat and reflect on the day. It was great to see that people who got to know each other during VIS activities are still in touch and seek each other out to discuss VIS. Or, as one of the presentations showed, a connection that was made at VIS Live has now resulted in a structural collaboration between two institutions. Proof of the VIS Community. We are extremely proud of four successful VIS Live events, at which we welcomed more than 275 participants.

Our thanks go to everyone who made this valuable closing event possible. Thank you to our chain partner Dialogic for presenting the results of VIS to date. And thank you to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science for their engagement and presence at the event. And, of course, our appreciation and respect go out to all VIS projects over the past four years, which have demonstrated the rich international (virtual) experiences they offer students.
